Forensic Science Awareness Courses
Cost £99 + VAT (includes lunch and refreshments)
These courses is specifically designed for people working within the CJ system. The training courses have a relaxed, informal approach and include information about the latest forensic techniques, their evidential meaning and how they fit into investigations. You will be given an insight into how forensic scientists interpret their findings within the training sessions and then the presentation of those findings in court. Within these training courses there is the opportunity to discuss real cases and learn how the forensic science was applied practically to ‘real' situations. The days usually include the following sessions
- Forensic Science General Techniques. In this presentation we will take a tour through the science areas of relevance in forensic investigations.
- Case Assessment and Interpretation. In this presentation we will show how a case is approached and how the scientific results lead to an interpretation that is presented to the court.
- Laboratory Tour. A tour of our working forensic laboratories will include demonstrations of practical scenarios based on real cases and give you the opportunity to decide the forensic strategy.
- Case Study. To show how forensic science can assist in a very
complex enquiry covering a number of different evidence types - Open Session. To allow you the opportunity to discuss cases that you may have come across or cases of public interest.
There is always time during breaks to speak with our scientists who will be on hand to assist you with any queries you wish addressed on your visit.
Our next courses are scheduled for August 18th and November 24th 2010. Places are limited so we allocate on a first-come first served basis.
