Body Fluids Analysis
We will examine crime scenes and items for blood, semen, saliva, hairs and other body fluids using the most up to date analytical techniques in our bespoke laboratory facilities. If appropriate, samples can be removed for subsequent DNA analysis.
Clothing items are often examined for the presence of tearing/cutting in attempts to identify the implement that caused the damage. We regularly undertake such work.
Where necessary, we undertake re-examination of items under controlled conditions in attempts to find additional evidence.
We are frequently called upon to visit other laboratories to review body fluids evidence provided by other experts.
Blood Pattern Analysis
By examining the shape and patterns of bloodstains at a scene or on submitted items, it can be possible to provide an informed opinion of how they came to be upon a surface. Actions such as contact, forceful impact and marks in blood can all be commented upon. Put together with DNA analysis that can determine from whom the blood may have originated, this is a powerful evidence type. It can be possible to reconstruct what may have happened and the order of events at a scene by looking at blood patterns.
Examinations and re-examinations of scenes and items are offered with a full explanation of findings provided so that you understand exactly what the evidence means. We are called upon to visit other forensic laboratories to review their interpretation of blood pattern evidence.
DNA
We provide an unrivalled portfolio of DNA techniques for initial and review examination. From the most frequently used SGM+ to the more specialised Y-STR, we will provide you with only the best services. We are able to request National DNA Database searches in addition to the more specialised familial searching.
We will interpret complex mixtures to find the evidence where it is at its most elusive. Recommendations on further examination utilising DNA analyses of different types can also help you with considering aspects of a case that have not yet been considered.
We provide DNA sampling kits so you can take mouth swabs and we arrange processing of your sample.
